I think we are getting close to having all our plans for Memphis in place. Looks like the Golf is set for an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start Friday morning the 17th at Mirimichi Golf Course. You can take a look at the course at michi.com. We will play from the front tees to speed play, and there will be lots of opportunity to get some of your money back. Now that we are set here, registrations can be finalized for golfers, too. The registration fee will include Golf, a souvenir of the event and all prizes (and there are several) as well as a blind calcutta (another chance to get some $$ back). The golf is called the Morgan Allen Memorial in honor of Morgan Allan of Georgia. Morgan served as Georgia Jaycee President in 1976-77 and had the hutspa to win our reunion tournaments several times. The purpose of the golf is to have fun. Real serious golfers are welcome, but know you will be in the minority.
We are getting booked for Wednesday night out (dutch) at Silky O’Sullivans. They have a separate area for small groups about our size, a menu with variety, the “Diver” Bucket specialty drink and they will give us separate tickets for all to pay. We are booking a time of 6:30 to 7:00 pm for our arrival. Check Silky’s out at www.silkyosullivans.com.
Those of you that responded about the river cruise preferred the dinner and music cruise, so that event is booked for Friday evening the 17th. You can check the river cruises at https://memphisriverboats.net. They have received some glowing reviews from past passengers and are recommended by the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau. Bet we can make it a fun evening. The Memphis Riverboats company has two boats. One has dinner on the second level and one has dinner on the first level. They are using the first level Riverboat, The Island Queen, for us so we can avoid the stairs. This event is included in your registration, so there is no reason to miss it.
Those that join us for every opportunity will arrive for Wednesday night at Silky O'Sullivans (dutch), Thursday evening hospitality in our hospitality suite (probably enough to make a meal), Friday Golf (separate fee) and Friday evening Dinner River Cruise on the Island Queen followed by more hospitality in our hospitality suite with Saturday wrap-up with our very serious Business and Awards Banquet at our headquarters hotel (probably our best Saturday night meal ever) with the hospitality suite open after dinner and again on Sunday morning as we all head home. Three meals and a river cruise as well as lots of hospitality suite opportunities for a bargain registration fee.
The schedule will allow for lots of catching up with old friends with the time in the hospitality suite as well as free time on Friday and Saturday. We expect all to have a great time. I plan to.
Our headquarters hotel is the Sheraton Memphis Downtown. Our room reservation link is https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/StarGroupsWeb/res?id=1706287954&key=2E5ED911. Please let me know if you have any difficulty with your reservation. Our group rate applies for a day or two before and a day or two after the reunion.
Make your plans to join us. Send in your registration today and call the folks you would like to see in Memphis. Encourage them to join us, too.
