One more update as time is running out ———————
Once again, I ask that you take a look at the Attendance list attached. If you are in the red, we need to hear from you. If you are in another group and not registered, we would sure like to see you in Memphis. Make plans to join us and, please send us your registration. We still have some time to get registrations in and room reservations, but time is growing short. REAL SHORT ———— We need to get registrations in so we can get our shirts ordered and determine our final counts for the Dinner on the River and Saturday Banquet. Fill out the form and send it to me today. Join the fun in Memphis.
We still do not have working email addresses on: Ed Silhacek; Don Varnadore; Les Mehlhaf; John Fletcher; Bob Woodard; Dave Parkin; Wendell Chun; Ron Kerr; Mike Mendrick; Fred Naaktgeboren and Barbra Dye. If you have a working email address on any of these folks, please forward to me and we will try to catch them up on Memphis.
Make your room reservations direct with the Sheraton at https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/StarGroupsWeb/res?id=1706287954&key=2E5ED911 . Our cut-off date for our block of rooms is August 1st. That’s less than two weeks away. Go on-line and make your room reservation today We are just short of our room commitment, and we need your reservation. If you have any issues let me know and we will try to help.
Check out our golf course at mirimichi.com . Great course —— hope you will join the golf group. Jim Hyatt has finalized a plan with the course and pro shop, and Steve Hewlett reports that it is a great course that we will play from the front tees.
You can check on the river cruise Friday evening at memphisriverboats.net . Everyone is that is registered is included for this event as part of your registration fee. Should be a fun Friday evening. We are on the Island Queen.
George Connolly has put together a group tour of Graceland for Saturday. George has the 15 minimum for a group rate, but if you let us know by return email that you want to join the group, you can be included. The tour is the “Elvis Experience + Airplanes" for $58.10 each at 9:30 a.m. on 8/18 — that’s Saturday morning. Let us know if you are interested in joining this group and how many. We need all checks for the tour sent to me, and I will pay the total tab to George. Please get your checks to me by August 1st. This is the week that Memphis remembers the death of Elvis. There will probably be some special additions to the tour. Let us know by Friday 7/20.
I just sent an email to all with some responses from our gang received in the last month or so. Give them a read. Memphis has some Jaycee history for our era. Some of us were there for some of it and still have fond memories.
Check the attendance list attached; check out the eating places on another attachment; check out the agenda attached and then complete the registration form attached and send it to us so you can join us for the fun, relaxation, BS, good memories and great folks. All we need to make it better is you.

I think we are getting close to having all our plans for Memphis in place. Looks like the Golf is set for an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start Friday morning the 17th at Mirimichi Golf Course. You can take a look at the course at michi.com. We will play from the front tees to speed play, and there will be lots of opportunity to get some of your money back. Now that we are set here, registrations can be finalized for golfers, too. The registration fee will include Golf, a souvenir of the event and all prizes (and there are several) as well as a blind calcutta (another chance to get some $$ back). The golf is called the Morgan Allen Memorial in honor of Morgan Allan of Georgia. Morgan served as Georgia Jaycee President in 1976-77 and had the hutspa to win our reunion tournaments several times. The purpose of the golf is to have fun. Real serious golfers are welcome, but know you will be in the minority.
We are getting booked for Wednesday night out (dutch) at Silky O’Sullivans. They have a separate area for small groups about our size, a menu with variety, the “Diver” Bucket specialty drink and they will give us separate tickets for all to pay. We are booking a time of 6:30 to 7:00 pm for our arrival. Check Silky’s out at www.silkyosullivans.com.
Those of you that responded about the river cruise preferred the dinner and music cruise, so that event is booked for Friday evening the 17th. You can check the river cruises at https://memphisriverboats.net. They have received some glowing reviews from past passengers and are recommended by the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau. Bet we can make it a fun evening. The Memphis Riverboats company has two boats. One has dinner on the second level and one has dinner on the first level. They are using the first level Riverboat, The Island Queen, for us so we can avoid the stairs. This event is included in your registration, so there is no reason to miss it.
Those that join us for every opportunity will arrive for Wednesday night at Silky O'Sullivans (dutch), Thursday evening hospitality in our hospitality suite (probably enough to make a meal), Friday Golf (separate fee) and Friday evening Dinner River Cruise on the Island Queen followed by more hospitality in our hospitality suite with Saturday wrap-up with our very serious Business and Awards Banquet at our headquarters hotel (probably our best Saturday night meal ever) with the hospitality suite open after dinner and again on Sunday morning as we all head home. Three meals and a river cruise as well as lots of hospitality suite opportunities for a bargain registration fee.
The schedule will allow for lots of catching up with old friends with the time in the hospitality suite as well as free time on Friday and Saturday. We expect all to have a great time. I plan to.
Our headquarters hotel is the Sheraton Memphis Downtown. Our room reservation link is https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/StarGroupsWeb/res?id=1706287954&key=2E5ED911. Please let me know if you have any difficulty with your reservation. Our group rate applies for a day or two before and a day or two after the reunion.
Make your plans to join us. Send in your registration today and call the folks you would like to see in Memphis. Encourage them to join us, too.
