Happy Thanksgiving to All ! ! !

Just a few items before the holiday for your information.

Corky Hyatt is hard at work on updating our web site, www.jayceereunion.com. As always, she’s doing a great job.

One thing she’s working on is our full email list. The full list includes a group that Frank started of the presidents and exec com. he served with and a few others. The other list is primarily Barry Kennedy’s Exec. Com. All three of these groups are closely tied together since we all made each other look good once upon a time. We hope more of these groups will join us in Colorado. Those that have joined us in the past, seemed to have a very good time.

If you have any photos of the Charleston golf tournament, please forward them to Corky and copy me. We had some cameras that were not working, but I know some of you did take photos. Corky’s email address is corky@corkyhyatt.com.

If you have anything else you would like to share with the group, please forward it to me or Corky or both.

Corky will soon have links to a lot of sites that may help you plan your Colorado trip in July.

There are trips being planned for trout fishing in WY as well as a Cheyenne Frontier Days outing for concert and rodeo, possibly.

We have interest in both, and both have web sites that will be posted soon on our website “Links”.

We have two golfers that prefer something other than a shirt for participation in the Morgan Allen Memorial tournament. We have heard from no others. Please let your thoughts known.

We will continue to make some plans for the Rodeo and Fishing and we will try to keep all informed.

The hotel does not make reservations on the web, so please call to make your room reservations at The Plaza Hotel in Longmont, CO. The phone number is (800) 843-8240, and you need to refer to the Jaycee Reunion to get our $79.00 room rate. Make your reservations ASAP.

We have one paid registration from Barry Kennedy. We will accept more. Fill out the form attached and mail it with your check.

Send me any questions you may have about Colorado, and be sure to check Corky’s work at www.jayceereunion.com.

Gang,

It’s all coming together for our Colorado reunion next summer. The dates are set for July 26-29, Thursday thru Sunday, as always. The final schedule still has some fine tuning to do, but a tentative agenda is attached along with our registration form. I hope all the sites will be valuable to you as you make your plans.

The headquarters will be the Plaza Hotel in Longmont, Co. The rooms are being remodeled prior to our meeting, and they were already nice when we visited last summer. The Hospitality Suite and Convention Center will allow for most of our “events” to be at the hotel, and the golf course, Ute Creek Golf Course, is only a few miles away for the Friday morning Morgan Allen Memorial Tournament.

  • The Hotel site is http://plazahotellongmont.com/. Do not register on the web site. You need to call (800) 843-8240 and make your reservation in order to get our group rate of $79.00 per night. That rate will also apply to early arrivals and those staying over after the reunion. Call the 800 number and tell them you are with the Jaycee Reunion and they will take care of you. They seem to be very good folks to host us.
  • The Golf Course site is http://www.golflongmont.com/ute_home/. You golfers let me know in the next month or two if you would rather have some other golf based souvenir of the Morgan Allen Memorial other than a shirt. If you will let me know, we will try to get some good golf based items rather than the shirt if you wish. If you still want the shirt, that’s what we will do. Please email me and let me know your preference.

The prices allow us to keep the same cost for registration we had in Charleston and include a Friday night group function along with the Hospitality Suite, event shirt and Saturday Night Banquet as always. The Friday night event is not yet finalized, but it will be something with a western theme.

To assist in the planning for your trip, the sites and activities of the area include:

  • Longmont, CO information is available at http://www.visitlongmont.org/.

Less than 16 miles away is the city of Boulder, CO at the base of the Rocky Mountains. A site for Boulder is http://www.bouldercoloradousa.com/.

About 33 miles away in the Rocky Mountains and gateway to the Continental Divide is Estes Park, CO. A site for Estes Park is http://www.estesparkcvb.com/.

If you like to gamble and drive on a beautiful mountain road, the Las Vegas of Colorado, about 53 miles from Longmont, is Blackhawk, CO. A site for Blackhawk is http://www.blackhawkcolorado.com/.

The capital and largest city in Colorado is Denver, and the Denver area has a lot to do. A site for Denver is http://www.denver.org/.

If you want to plan your trip to include all the sites around Colorado Springs, and there are a lot including the Air Force Academy, a website for Colorado Springs is http://www.visitcos.com/. Colorado Springs is about two hours south of Longmont and through Denver on I-25. With the distance, you may want to plan a stop here coming or going.

If you ever wanted to go to a first class rodeo, this could be your opportunity. The “Granddaddy of them all”, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, will be in session the week of our reunion in Longmont. Cheyenne, WY is about 77 miles north of Longmont on I-25. I have attended this rodeo twice in my life. The last time was about 15 years ago or so. I may try to include a visit next year before we gather in Longmont. It is quite an experience. Take a look at their web site at http://www.cfdrodeo.com/. I’m sure there will be more discussion about this soon. This is such a big deal rodeo with name brand entertainment that you may need to make your plans to attend very soon in order to get tickets for the night you want. I recommend you spend a full day at the event as well as an evening performance. There is a lot to see and do.

I am sure there are some errors in this email since it was put together in a hurry. Please let me know if any of them are important and I will try to correct them.

I believe this location and the interest shown already will lead to the best turn-out ever. I hope you will join us for the fun and relaxation.

I want to make a special invitation to the additional associates from the Ziebell group of Presidents and the Kennedy Exec.Committee to join us. We have had several of the “Add Asses” join us at the past couple of reunions, and I could not tell that they had any less fun than the rest of us. Make plans to join us in Colorado if you can. We would like to swap stories with you, too.

Make this your family vacation for 2012. If I had the money and the time (as many of you have, I’m sure!!), I would take a couple of days before the reunion to go to the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, and I would take a couple of days to explore the Colorado Springs area attractions after the reunion. Along with the free time in the Longmont area during the reunion, this could be a great vacation, tour or get-away for you and your family.

Here’s a good place to remind you that your family is welcome to these reunions. We have had kids before to join us, and I’m sure we are about to have some grandkids join us, soon. Bring your family and make a family vacation out of it as you give us the chance to tell them stories about you when you were young!!!

If I missed anything you would like to know, let me know and I’ll see what I can do. If you have any inside info about the Longmont area and Colorado, let us know and we will pass it along. We want to continue to have our reunions with enough free time to enjoy the area and enough “together” time to catch up on what’s happening with each of us.

Email and call those in our group that you would like to see and ask them to join us. I think we are all in store for another great time together. Help us make it the best ever!!!

Gang,

A couple of updates since our last blast regarding our Reunion next summer:

First on registration and the revised registration form: We have our first registration in hand!!! Welcome back Barry and Diane Kennedy. We missed you in Charleston.

Next, I noticed on Barry’s form that we do not separate the Men’s sizes from women’s sizes for the shirts. I have separated them for the event shirts, and I will assume the same for golf shirts for the ladies that play golf if we do get golf shirts.

Also regarding registrations ------- I have had positive responses about attending from Phil Marrti, Bob Schorzman, David Bennion, Bill Porter, Frank Ziebell, David Williams, Cecil Watkins, Jim Hyatt, Glenn Harger, and Dock Hanks.

I have also had a bunch of base touching with everyone with an AOL email address because there were issues with the first email blast with AOL addresses for some reason. The net result is that we are still in touch with our AOL users.

Regarding golf shirts: Only one vote was returned regarding the golf shirt question. Should we have a golf shirt or some other golf related souvenir for the golfers?? That one vote was for no golf shirt. All you golfers let us know your vote. Shirt or other.

Two of our group have suggested excursions for early in the week of the reunion in Wyoming.

First, there is some great fishing in Wyoming. Bill Porter has recommended that if you are interested in a pre-reunion fishing trip, Wyoming might be a great idea. He suggests that you take a look at http://www.fourseasonsanglers.com/.
Bill Porter has had some very positive experiences with these folks and recommends them. Good Fishing!!

Second, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo was suggested in the last blast. David Bennion thinks that is a good idea. We think Charlie Daniels Band will be at the rodeo for a concert on Tuesday night,, July 24th. The idea is that all that are interested can meet in Cheyenne, WY on that Tuesday, go to the concert on Tuesday night, go to the rodeo on Wednesday afternoon and then drive on down to Longmont, CO after the Rodeo on Wednesday. Let us know if you are interested and we will begin to see what we can find out about specifics. That rodeo web site is http://www.cfdrodeo.com/.

Let us hear your ideas for the trip. Give us any updated email, address or phone information on you if those things have changed in the past year or two. I got a nice email from John Holden stating that he has moved from MT to AZ for retirement. I’m not sure AZ can stand Hlusak, Schorzman and Holden!!

Registrations are being accepted.

The trip should be a good one.

Hope you can join us.

Gang,

We are about set for our 2012 Reunion in Longmont, CO. The basic plans to this point include the dates of July 26-29, 2012. The headquarters hotel is the Plaza Hotel in Longmont. The golf course has been picked, and there is to be a Friday night Chuck Wagon Dinner with Cowboy entertainment.

The committee of Harger, Hyatt, Hanks and Watkins will be together next week in KY to be joined for one evening by Williams and Hewlett. Plans will be finalized by the end of next week and a full tilt agenda and registration form will be coming your way by the 20th.

Right now, be sure the dates are reserved. These dates had no conflicts with anyone that responded, and about 20 or so of us responded to indicate they would attend if they did not have a conflict. This looks like a good turn out.

More to come soon!! Thanks,
